Privacy policy

FeeVerdict Observatory operates a public fee comparison service for Canadian package imports. This policy explains what we collect when you submit an observation, how we use it, and your rights.

Last updated: September 2026.

Information we collect

  • Brokerage fee amount, carrier, optional parcel value, optional city, optional merchant vs personal context, and optional comment you submit.
  • Optional email address β€” required only if you leave a comment; used for moderation contact, never published.
  • Service type (Ground, Express, or Unknown) when you provide it.
  • Technical metadata: hashed IP address and browser user-agent string on submission, for abuse prevention (rate limits, duplicate burst detection).
  • Analytics events (e.g. verdict views) if analytics is configured β€” no fine-grained tracking of raw submissions.

How we use information

  • Moderate and aggregate fee observations into public medians and verdict statistics.
  • Detect spam, honeypot abuse, disposable emails, and outlier submissions.
  • Operate the site, APIs, and dataset freshness (changelog, reports).
  • We do not sell personal information. We do not publish raw submissions or email addresses.

Retention

Submissions and moderation records are retained while the observatory operates and as needed for dataset integrity. You may request deletion of identifiable data (see Rights). Aggregated statistics may remain after deletion because they cannot identify you.

Your rights (PIPEDA)

Canadian residents may request access to personal information we hold about them and ask for corrections or deletion where applicable.

  • Access β€” know what personal data we hold linked to your submission.
  • Correction β€” fix inaccurate optional contact details.
  • Deletion β€” request removal of identifiable submission data where feasible.
  • Withdraw consent β€” stop using optional email for follow-up.

Contact: privacy@feeverdict.com (configure before launch). Include enough detail to locate your submission without posting tracking numbers publicly.

Security

Submissions are stored in access-controlled databases. Admin moderation uses authenticated APIs. IP addresses are stored as one-way hashes, not raw IPs.

Children

FeeVerdict is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

U.S. / California residents

If you are in the United States, including California, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, deletion of identifiable submission data, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. FeeVerdict does not sell personal information.

  • Access β€” ask what personal data we hold linked to a submission you made.
  • Deletion β€” request removal of identifiable data where feasible. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may remain.
  • Opt out of sale β€” we do not sell personal information; you may still email us to record that preference.

Contact: privacy@feeverdict.com. Include enough detail to locate your submission without posting tracking numbers publicly.
